I have been down at the gallery all day helping to hang the pictures. It’s coming together slowly but surely.
I was recently at the Phillips Collection in Washington, and was incredibly impressed by some of the amazing and important works by artists I admire. Some were housed in very low-tech, basic wooden frames. It was just perfect. I thought I would do the same. Here are a couple of Photos took at the gallery.
1960 Gene Davis Rain Dance I
1959 Milton Avery Black Sea
Here we have the paintings getting framed in the workshop.
Bill Welcomes The Spirit World to Damwood.
PENNY LANE GALLERY photo by Christine
I took most of the paintings down to the gallery yesterday. It was nice to see them all together for the first time. They are usually stored away at my house.
The photo shows about half of the ones that I took. This gave me a very good idea how they will look in the space.
As you can see in the photo, the paintings were attracting the interest of the local weirdo who was transfixed at the window, poor sod he will have to wait till the 25th.

Will, thanks so much for the live stream of your opening night! It was just like being there, and you saved me the bleedin airfare!!!
Next time you are in NYC I must introduce you to Sica, she’s been an artist for over 50 years and your work is very similar to some of hers, it’s as if you’re her protoge and it’s amazing you’ve never met or known of each other! Perhaps you were seperated at birth? I mean mother and son!
